What do you get?
A public Story is a set of snaps that a public profile has posted recently. SnapViewer lists each snap with its date and gives one download per snap: photos as JPG, videos as MP4. In our test on 2026-10-30 one large public profile had 112 Story snaps (76 videos and 36 photos); a photo was 1242×2208 pixels (178 KB) and a 10-second video was a 480×270 MP4 of 320 KB.

The Gallery app (double-click in Files).
How do you keep it with your photos?
Because Downloads is temporary storage, move files you want to keep to Google Drive or another folder in the Files app.
What should you know on Chromebook?
Move files you want to keep out of Downloads: ChromeOS may delete them there to free up space.
What if the download does not show up on Chromebook?
- Check Files › Downloads first: Open the Files app and choose Downloads.
- Make sure the profile is public. Friends-only Stories and private accounts cannot be read without logging in, and this tool never asks for a Snapchat password.
- Download links expire after one hour. If a button stops working, look the username up again.
- Stories disappear from Snapchat after a while; if a snap is gone from the profile, it is gone here too.

What is the best quality I can get?

Do I need an app or a Snapchat account?
No. It runs in the browser (Chrome), with no sign-up and no app to install.
Is SnapViewer part of Snapchat?
No. SnapViewer is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Snap Inc. It only reads public profiles.
Can I see private or friends-only content?
No. Only public profiles and public Stories can be read without logging in. Anything shared with friends only is out of reach, by design.
Does the person know I saved their Story?
SnapViewer does not log in to Snapchat, so it does not use your account to open the Story. We cannot speak for what Snapchat records on its own servers.
How long are Stories available?
Snapchat removes Story snaps after a while. In our tests, a public profile still listed snaps up to about six days old; regular friends' Stories last 24 hours.
